Making Our Mark in the Pool Industry
We are delighted to have been featured in Pool Magazine in a thoughtful piece about how our business is making a positive impact in the pool-building industry. Not only did we find the piece flattering, but also felt that it captured the spirit of our business and the passion that drives our mission to build high-quality pools for customers in Shreveport and surrounding areas.
We would like to share some of the highlights from the article and expand on the points that resonated most with us.
Making Waves Since We Began
Since the 1960s, Morehead Pools has established itself as a leader in the pool industry. Three generations of leadership later, our President Michael Moore proudly shares his insights into the family business and demonstrates just how impactful we’ve been in the pool industry since our inception.
“I’m a third-generation pool builder. In 1975, my grandmother began running this operation and actually purchased the company (from the previous owner). We can’t verify this, but I think she was one of, if not the first woman pool business owner.”
Michael goes on to discuss the ethic of hard work and self-reliance that has characterized the company since its earliest days, beginning with his grandfather.
“‘My grandfather quit his job as a pole climber, came over, and got on the end of a gunite hose,’ Moore reminisced. ‘The family’s hands-on approach and dedication to their craft have been integral to their success.’”
He then summarises how that dedication has persisted into the modern-day as Morehead Pools has continued to adapt and find its niche within the market.
“‘Since then, we have continued to dominate the marketplace in our local area with our focus on quality and custom design…. we’re not boutique, but we’re certainly not volume… We cater a little more to the high-end…’”

“‘We’re driven with our folks and we always spent tons of money reinvesting in them,’ said our President, Michael Moore. ‘Our tenure within the organization speaks volumes about their commitment to our employees… Our oldest employee has been here for 38 years. Over 60 or 70% of our team has been here for ten years plus… we are proud to foster an environment where people want to work and continue to do so for a long time…’”
